Breaking: D’banj dedicates MAMA awards to Don Jazzy

Singer-songwriter, harmonica player, and
businessman, Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo (D’Banj)
who won the maiden MAMA Evolution awards,
has dedicated the prestigious prize to his former
business partner and producer, Don Jazzy, who is
the boss of Mavin Records.
The Evolution category is meant for established
artistes who have made a huge impact on the
African music scene, taken African music to new
heights around the world and pushed the
boundaries of creativity.

D’Banj beat fellow Nigerian representatives Asa,
Psquare and 2face to the awards. Fally Ipupa
(DRC), Samini (Ghana), HHP (South Africa)
Chameleone (Uganda), Black Coffee (South Africa)
and Anselmo Ralph (Angola) were also nominated
It will be recalled that the musical marriage
between D’Banj and Don Jazzy ended on a sour
note in 2012.
